Estimation of global order of the amperometric sensor response for oxygen

REVISTA DE CHIMIE (Bucharest Chemistry Library Press, Romania) , 36(9), 852-855 (1985) .

Abstract

The overall response - rate order of a home-made Clark-type amperometric oxygen sensor has been investigated. It has been stated that the response-rate is of second order, indicating that the diffusion of oxygen through the membrane is not a rate-determining. Perhaps the rather complex mechanism of electroreduction of the oxygen determines order rate. The response of the sensor was faster when the cathode was previously activated, as well as at elevated temperature. The corresponding rate constants are presented.
